It has been my pleasure to play in many churches over the years, many of which I have recorded on my CD CORNERSTONE, and I have collected a rather large collection of appropriate music for trombone and piano that is suitable for such purposes. I have made it my custom, whenever I play in churches, to always play a hymn or gospel song, rather than a classical selection. I do this partly because I personally enjoy the change from the kind of music I play every day in the Boston Symphony, but mostly because I believe music in church should speak directly to the listener and not, primarily, draw attention to the performer. Because of this, I have shied away from "theme and variation" arrangments and pieces that are of an up-tempo nature, preferring ballads that speak directly to the heart of the listener.
Because I am often asked what music I use in church, I have compiled the following list of books and individual arrangements that I have regularly. Some of them, in particular the five Bill Pearce books, I know are out of print, but you may be able to find a copy around somewhere. None are strictly for bass trombone, and many are simply a piano/vocal arrangement that I play down one or two octaves depending on the key. The new publications by Curnow Music Press are nicely filling the gap created by the loss of the Bill Pearce books. I would also suggest an excellent resource, the Sacred Instrumental Published Music List which is published by the Christian Instrumentalists and Directors Association (CIDA) every few years. Paul Jantz is professor of trombone at Bob Jones University and has published many fine arrangements of music for wind and brass solo (with piano), duet, trio, quartet and large ensemble. I have used many of his arrangements over the years for quartet as well as large groups. The Jantz Music catalog features arrangements by both Paul Jantz and many other fine composers and arrangers.

An extensive database of sacred ensemble music including many arrangements for brass.
Tubist Sam McFerrin has arranged hymns and contemporary Christian songs for tuba, which are also suitable for trumpet, euphonium (treble and bass clef) bass trombone and trombone as well. Many of his hymn arrangements are designed to work well with with hymns as contained in the Methodist, Baptist and other denominational hymnals.
