A free music download for unaccompanied bass trombone composed by
David Brubeck
Based on the great hymn tune, How Great Thou Art
Several years ago, composer David Brubeck contacted me to say he had written a collection of pieces for unaccompanied bass trombone
titled Stereograms, Each piece was dedicated to a trombonist who had some influence in the composer's life
(David Brubeck is, himself, a bass trombonist). He informed me that Stereogram 31 was dedicated to me, and was based
on the great Christian hymn tune, How Great Thou Art.
David Brubeck has graciously agreed to offer his Stereogram 31 as a free download for visitors to my website. I am
very grateful for David Brubeck's generosity in offering this piece to bass trombonists who might be interested in his whole collection
of unaccompanied bass trombone pieces. With a Latin flavor, How Great Thou Art, is a piece I enjoy playing regularly and I
encourage interested players to visit David Brubeck's website to learn how
to purchase his first two books of Stereograms: Volume 1 - Three Smooth Stones, featuring
Stereograms 1-10 and Volume 2 - Modern Renaissance, featuring Stereograms 11-20. These books are full of rewarding challenges
for bass trombonists who will find a great variety of styles, techniques and inspiration in their pages. Volume 3, Everglades, which
will contain Stereograms 21-30, is forthcoming, and Volume 4, which is comprised of arrangements, will be made available
for free on the web in time.
